District Superintendent Welcome to the Temple District of the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. The district is one of seven districts that compose the Central Texas Conference. We are located deep in the heart of Texas serving the Bell, Coryell, and Williamson Counties as well as sections of McLennan and Falls Counties. The district serves 48 congregations and over 22,000 United Methodist members. Four new churches have been organized during the past few years. The area has a mixture of small towns and growing cities. In fact, Bell and Williamson Counties are among the fastest growing counties in Texas. Yet, there is still room for recreation, farming and deer hunting. We serve the student needs of Southwestern University, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Central Texas College, and Temple College with over 10,000 students, many of them Methodists. We are a racially
diverse district. We have several predominately African American congregations,
one predominately Korean congregation and several churches that are
racially diverse. We are working to better minister to and with the
growing hispanic population within our district. |
Fort Hood, one of the nations largest Army installations, is located between Killeen, Copperas Cove and Gatesville. The churches in those cities are integrally involved in ministries with our service personnel, as are many others in our district. The Temple District it is an exciting, nurturing, caring place to be. Temple District
